What are value-added services (VAS)?
Value-added service numbers are used by companies to offer and charge for services via a specific phone number.
In Switzerland, these numbers usually start with 08 or 09 (note that 0800 numbers are free of charge).
You can find more information on Individual number allocation on the website of the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM).
On your Sky Mobile bill, calls to VAS numbers appear in the Value-added services section.
How can you deactivate a premium SMS service (value-added service)?
Find the short number related to the value-added service on your detailed bill under My Account → Bills.
Then go to the Search for short number* page and use the appropriate keywords to deactivate the service(s):
-
To deactivate a specific service, send:
STOP [name of the service]
to the short number of the service provider. -
To deactivate all services from one provider, send:
STOP ALL
to the short number of the provider. -
To block access to all adult content via your connection**, send:
BLOCK ADULT
to 5155. -
To block access to all premium services via your connection** (regardless of type or provider), send:
BLOCK ALL
to 5155.
Note: You’ll no longer have access to any premium services at all, and won’t be able to use your phone for service payments (like Selecta vending machines, parking tickets, etc.).
* You can search by provider name or number.
** Block applies at Sky Mobile network level.
Roaming communications (calls or SMS) to one or more unknown numbers are listed on your invoice. What does this mean?
When you're roaming, your phone connects to a mobile network in the country you're visiting.
For billing reasons, some operators might replace destination numbers with generic ones.
This often happens with service numbers, hotlines, or value-added service numbers. For example, France Telecom replaces all short numbers with the generic +333000 on invoices.
Sometimes, the operator simply hasn’t registered the destination number and replaces it with a generic one. In some cases, you might be able to find the real destination number by searching on a local search engine (like Google.it, Google.fr, Google.es, etc.).
So, it’s not a billing error—it’s just how the numbers are displayed on the invoice.
You’ll find more info about how to read your bill here.
