I already have an extender or repeater from another provider. Can I use it with Sky Fiber?
Some third-party extenders or repeaters may work, but Sky cannot provide support for their setup or performance.
👉 For full compatibility, optimal Wi-Fi coverage, and easy setup, we strongly recommend using the Sky Access-Point.
It’s available as an optional add-on when ordering your Sky Fiber Kit, or anytime later via “My account”.
What is the difference between a Wi-Fi extender (like Sky Access-Point) and a repeater?
The terms Wi-Fi extender and repeater are often used interchangeably, but they have key differences:
Wi-Fi repeater
- A repeater receives the existing Wi-Fi signal and re-broadcasts it to extend the range.
- It is typically placed near the router, where the signal is still strong, to ensure it can effectively forward the connection.
Wi-Fi extender
- An extender also extends the Wi-Fi signal, but it offers more flexibility.
- It can work wirelessly like a repeater or be connected to the router via an Ethernet cable for a stronger and more stable connection.
- Many extenders support multiple modes, such as access point or bridge, and may include advanced features.
Both devices improve Wi-Fi coverage. The best choice depends on your home’s layout and your technical setup.
Sky offers the option to add one or more additional Access-Points.
