Which online tracking and online advertising techniques we use?
We use various techniques on our website that allow us and third parties engaged by us to recognize you during your use of our website, and possibly to track you across several visits.
In essence, we wish to distinguish access by you (through your system) from access by other users, so that we can ensure the functionality of the website and carry out analysis and personalization. We do not determine your identity.
However, even without registration data, the technologies we use are designed in such a way that you are recognized as an individual visitor each time you access the website — for example, by our server (or third-party servers) that assign a specific identification number to you or your browser (so-called «cookie»).
Cookies
Cookies are individual codes (e.g. a serial number) that our server or a server of our service providers or advertising partners transmits to your system when you connect to our website, and that your system (browser, cell phone) accepts and stores until the set expiration time.
Your system transmits these codes to our server or the third-party server with each additional access. That way, you are recognized even if your identity is unknown.
Whenever you access a server (e.g. when you use a website or an app, or because an e-mail includes a visible or invisible image), your visits can therefore be «tracked».
If we integrate offers from an advertising partner or a provider of an analysis tool on our website, they may track you in the same way, even if you cannot be identified.
We use these technologies on our website and may allow certain third parties to do so as well.
You can also:
-
set your browser to block or deceive certain types of cookies or alternative technologies
-
delete existing cookies
-
add software to your browser that blocks certain third-party tracking
You can find more information on the help pages of your browser (usually with the keyword «Privacy») or on the websites of the third parties listed below.
We distinguish the following categories of cookies:
• Necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the functioning of the website or for certain features. They ensure that:
-
you can move between pages without losing information entered in a form,
-
you stay logged in.
These cookies exist temporarily only («session cookies»).
If you block them, the website may not work properly.
Other necessary cookies help store options or information beyond a session (e.g. language settings, consents, auto-login).
• Statistic cookies
We use cookies to:
-
record and analyse the use of our website (possibly across sessions),
-
optimise our website and offers,
-
adapt them to user needs.
We use third-party analytics services for this purpose (see list below).
• Functional / Preferences cookies
These cookies allow us to:
-
offer extended functions,
-
display personalised content,
-
store information already provided (e.g. language selection),
-
display related products based on browsing behaviour.
• Marketing cookies
We and our advertising partners use cookies to:
-
target advertising more precisely,
-
track accessed content or concluded contracts.
These allow us to display ads relevant to you both on our website and others.
If you consent, relevant ads are shown. If not, other (non-personalised) ads are shown.
In addition to cookies, we use other technologies to:
-
control online advertising on other websites,
-
reduce advertising wastage.
For example, encrypted and anonymised profiles may be shared with third parties to target ads to specific users.

Use of Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service by Google Ireland Ltd. (Google).
Google Analytics uses cookies to analyse how you use the website.
The data generated is usually sent to and stored on Google servers in the USA.
We use Google Analytics with IP anonymization enabled:
-
IP addresses are shortened within Switzerland, the EU, and EEA.
-
Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address sent to a server in the USA.
Google uses this data on our behalf to:
-
evaluate your use of the website,
-
provide reports on user activity,
-
deliver related internet usage services.
Your IP address is not merged with other Google data.
You can opt-out of Google Analytics tracking in two ways:
-
Install the browser deactivation add-on:
http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en -
Click a deactivation link (useful for mobile users):
It will install an opt-out cookie that disables tracking until deleted.

We receive data from:
-
you (when interacting with us, e.g. comments, messages, visits),
-
the platform (which analyses your behaviour and merges it with other data).
These platforms also:
-
process your data for their own purposes (e.g. advertising, platform management),
-
act as separate controllers.
They collect:
-
technical, registration, communication, behavioural, and preference data,
-
demographics like age and gender.
They use this data to:
-
create profiles about you,
-
show personalised ads,
-
provide market and user research data.
We may reuse your published content (e.g. comments) in our own communication or ads.
We or the platforms may also delete or restrict inappropriate content, as per their terms.
For more details, consult the privacy statements of the respective platforms, including:
-
countries of data processing,
-
your access and erasure rights,
-
how to exercise them.
